About Us

The New Life Family

We want to be a community that feels like an extended family overflowing with the presence and goodness of God.  In 2019, as part of pursuing this vision, we moved from the Dorking Halls in the town centre to a new base at the Chart Downs Community Centre & Social Club, which lies at the heart of the Chart Downs estate.

Our aim is to contribute positively to the many good things that are already going on in the local area and add to them in whatever way we can.  In doing so, we hope to demonstrate through our attitudes and actions that God loves all people (there are no exceptions) and that He longs for them to know Him for themselves.

One of the wonderful things about a Church family is that God designed it so that everyone has a part to play – this may involve using practical, creative, relational or other skills, or just getting stuck in and helping in whatever way we can or sharing what we have.  Even if we are shy or low on confidence, God has a plan to use us in ways that will benefit others and in this way many people have found a real sense of “belonging” at New Life.

We are part of a wider Church family

We have a very good relationship with other local Churches from different traditions and denominations and often work together in partnership.  We are also part of a network of Churches across Southern England known as “Commission” and this in turn is part of a wider (UK & Global) network called “Newfrontiers”.  We love being part of this wider family of Churches.

Leaders

We are not a traditional Church with a Vicar or Priest, but we do recognise the vital need for leaders – people that lead by example in their love for God and willingness to love and serve others.  At New Life Church we have a core leadership team of four “elders” and their wives (Phil & Helen, Richard & Jo, Pete & Catherine and Hermann & Antoinette).  This core team is supported by several others who use their leadership gifts in a number of pastoral, practical or organisational roles.

The Trustees of the Church, who help to ensure that we fulfil our responsibilities as a Charitable Trust, including our Safeguarding responsibilities (see below), comprise a mix of those undertaking these spiritual and practical leadership roles.

Safeguarding

We take our Safeguarding responsibilities very seriously as a whole Church family and are supported in this by Thirty one Eight, an independent and highly respected organisation that equips and supports organisations like ours to do our very best to keep all children and adults safe.
